Best TV and Book Mothers
In honor of Mother’s Day, here is a list of some of my all-time favorite mothers in TV and books! If it weren’t for our moms, what would we do? How would we survive? Think about it!
Top 3 Literary Moms
1.) The mom from Love You Forever by Robert N. Munsch
This is one of the only books that made me cry while reading it. Not only is the mom one of the most adorable moms presented in a children’s book, as illustrated by Sheila McGraw, but no matter her son’s age, we know that she will always love him — in spite of the hardships, fights, and disagreements that children and mothers often endure throughout their lives.
2.) Karen from the Amulet series by Kazu Kibuishi
She is definitely one mom who would do anything for her kids, and only wants the best for them. After coping with the death of her husband, Karen picks up the family in search of a new and improved life in the town of Norlen. What makes this mom so unique and special is that she’s willing to leave everything she has worked for only to make sure her kids are happy.
3.) Elizabeth Pennykettle from The Last Dragon Chronicles series by Chris d’Lacey
Elizabeth, also referred to as Liz, has only one daughter named Lucy. As a single mother, Liz is different than most moms; she creates clay dragons that come to life. More importantly, she is the child of Gawain, the last living dragon. This automatically gives her coolness points.
Top 2 Television Show Moms
1.) Theresa Russo of Wizards of Waverly Place
Theresa Russo is some mom if she can handle a family full of kids with magical powers. From being transferred into her daughter’s body to dealing a cab flying onto their deck, she manages these strange situations pretty well, if you ask me. (My mom would definitely lose it!) In addition to raising three challenging wizard children, Theresa Russo also runs their family’s sandwich shop and always has time to have fun with her husband — a.k.a. pulling practical jokes on him!
2.) Carey Martin of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
First off, I give any mother major credit for raising twins. What I especially love about Carey Martin is that though she is somewhat strict (she needs to be!), she is also her sons’ friend. At times, she goes along with their schemes, and she often jokes along with them. Plus, how many other moms do you know that are professional lounge singers? Not many, I am sure.
I think my mom has a little bit of everyone of these moms listed above. After all, she’s my mom! I love her and think the world of her!
Which awesome moms from books and television shows would would put on your list?
