Conor Maynard Interview
Conor Maynard is a 19-year-old British pop singer with a great YouTube discovery story. "I did a cover of Ne-Yo's 'Beautiful Monster,'" Maynard told MTV News. "[Ne-Yo] told a story where one of his friends called him [like] 'Yo man, isn't this kid singing 'Beautiful Monster' better than you singing it?' He was a bit like, 'Ah, no, I'll check that out.' And he was like, 'This kid does sing better than me!'"
Now, with his debut album, Contrast, already out abroad and the U.S. release coming in October, people are of course comparing him to Justin Bieber. I've heard 2 singles from the album so far, (OK, I admit to obsessively watching the videos for "Vegas Girl" and "Can't Say No" like a hundred times a day.) and I think he is more like Justin Timberlake. Sometimes he even reminds me of Michael Jackson. Either way, this guy's got massive talent!
Lucky Marie Morreale got to interview him. (First One Direction, then Austin Mahone, and now Conor? Some girls get all the luck!)

The Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games will be titled “A Symphony of British Music.” While the details of the August 12th spectacle are still being kept super-secret, the organizers have said that they ”will work with some of the country’s most globally successful musicians, along with some of the industry’s stars of tomorrow.” There are TONS of rumors flying around – One Direction? Jessie J? QUEEN?
Personally, I would be excited to see the John Lennon tribute and Take That’s performance of “Rule the World,” my favorite song of all time (I really hope The Wanted make an appearance, too; I’m a huge fan)! Darcy Bussell, the famous British ballerina, will be dancing with 300 other members of the Royal Ballet in a grand performance while the Olympic torch is put out. I can’t wait for that, either!
So, I want to know. What rumors are you hoping are true? More importantly, what’s YOUR dream lineup? Would you have a laser light show, flying acrobats, holograms, colored mist, fireworks? Share your Closing Ceremony wishlist in the Comments below!

Austin Mahone Interview
Austin Mahone is an average 16-year-old 10th grader from San Antonio, Texas. . . except that he has a massive number of fans on his video channel where he puts up his own music videos. He now has 2 original songs, “11:11″ and his newest song which I am addicted to, “Say Somethin.” Marie Morreale, famous for her interview with One Direction, met Austin a few weeks ago and got the scoop on this all-American hottie. Read on for the interview and the adorable picture of Austin in his room with all his fan mail plastered all over the walls.

Katy Perry Movie
The first woman in music history to have five Number One singles from one album, Katy Perry has scaled the heights of pop music stardom few have reached before her. So when the artist invited two filmmakers to tag along on her “California Dreams Tour,” she thought it might produce something of interest to her fans.
Katy said, “I could instinctively feel that something important was about to happen that year. It felt like this big wave was coming, and it felt like it was going to be a long one. So I reached out to two filmmakers and said, ‘Hi, guys. I’d like to you come on the road and document the ride.’” That ride was a year-long world tour across the United States, Europe, South America and the Far East. Cameras caught her live concerts and also the reality of her day-to-day life away from the stage lights and candy-colored costumes.
The result is Katy Perry: Part of Me (rated PG), a backstage pass, front row seat, and intimate look at the real Katy Perry. Katy: “This movie is a journey. Last year, I had a year I’ll never be able to recreate. . . amazing highs and some big lows, but that’s life. Everyone goes through the good and the bad, but it makes you stronger. But no matter what, as with my live concerts, my ultimate goal with this movie is to make people smile.”

Yes, the boys of One Direction are cute and funny and talented. But did you know that One Direction has already made music history? In March 2012, their album Up All Night entered the U.S. Billboard 200 pop album chart at #1, the first time ever for a debut album by a U.K. band. Not even The Beatles accomplished that!
Last week, I posted a One Direction Trivia Quiz with some much less serious facts about these 5 adorable boys from the U.K. How much do you know about the boys' sillier sides? Here are the answers.

Cody Simpson Interview
Cody Simpson’s life has been a whirlwind the past few years since he moved to the U.S. from Australia to pursue a singing career. We first met him at Scholastic two years ago when he first started making some noise, and it’s really exploded for him since then. (Have you seen the video of our acoustic performance of Cody’s song “iYiYi” from 2 years ago? Adorable, right?) He is a lot more grown up now (as you can see in this new video), and his life has a lot of cool perks like getting invited to Justin Bieber’s birthday party, and getting court-side Lakers tickets. Recently, he came back to Scholastic to talk about his life now.

You can find some of the answers in our One Direction interview. For the rest, just use your “sense of Direction.” (Ha ha! Sorry I’m such a dork.) I hope you like my quiz!
