If you completed it, then you just might have something in common with Miranda Cosgrove. . . because she is a huge fan of Allie Finkle! Beginner fan, or hard core fanatic – here are the answers from the Allie Finkle Scavenger Hunt.

1. In which book does Allie have to confront her ex-best friend Mary Kay?
ANSWER: Book #6 Blast From the Past.

3. Also in the Webcast Video, what animal did Meg Cabot always want to have?
ANSWER: A kitten. (Just like Allie!)

Allie Finkle Inspiration

Posted by at 3:52 am in Allie Finkle, Authors, Trivia | Permalink

Questionmark_130 Welcome to Trivia Tuesday! One of the really awesome things about working at Scholastic is that I get to meet a lot of authors, and ask them questions about their books. (I know, I’m so lucky!!) The first time I met Meg Cabot, the author of Allie Finkle’s Rules for Girls, one of the questions I asked her was:

Who is the character of Allie Finkle based on?  Alliefinkle

Your job today is to find out the answer! This is a pretty tough question, but the answer is somewhere on this site — from the lips of author Meg Cabot herself. So here’s a hint . . .

Good luck!

Meg Cabot Glitter Girls Video

Posted by at 7:24 am in Allie Finkle, Authors, Reads | Permalink

Allie_Finkle_5_130 Hardcore Allie Finkle fans probably know all about Meg Cabot’s newest book in the Allie Finkle’s Rules for Girls series, Book 5, Glitter Girls and the Great Fake Out. It’s about a spectacularly fancy birthday party that Allie gets invited to. (If you haven’t read it yet, you can read Chapter 1 right here.)

Well, Meg Cabot herself happened to come by the Scholastic offices recently and I asked her about her inspiration for the book. Turns out, it’s based true events from her own life. While she was here, she also read a section out loud. This is fun – you can hear how the author sounds when she reads her own book! And since Allie is based on Meg’s real life, it’s almost like seeing Allie Finkle as a grown-up reading her life story!

What do you think? Have you read the book already? Do you want to read it now that you have seen Meg Cabot’s video? Let us know in the Comments, or go talk about it with other Allie fans on the Allie Finkle Message Board.

Meg Cabot’s Stage Fright

Posted by at 6:31 am in Allie Finkle, Authors | Permalink

Meg-Cabot_c_Ali-Smith Just like Allie, my class put on a play with a royal lead. I was DYING to play the part of the princess. But it went to my classmate Meera (who now stars in musicals professionally— so I guess she was pretty good, even though she was only 9)! I was stuck playing the princess's best friend! I was so mad.

AllieFinkle_book4 But my mom and friends convinced me that there are no small parts. . . only small actors! So I played the best princess's best friend I could. I was REALLY nervous. . . especially since, right before I went out on stage. . . my front tooth fell out! I was sure I was going to be awful (or lose my tooth and not be able to get money from the tooth fairy).

But neither thing happened. Everything went great, and we all got a huge standing ovation. And years later, in high school, I actually beat Meera to get the lead in our high school musical. She's the one who went on to be an acting star though. . . I decided I loved WRITING the stories better than starring in them. And we both lived happily ever after.

Allie Finkle #4: Stage Fright Sneak Peek

Posted by at 5:41 pm in Allie Finkle, Reads, Sneak Peek | Permalink

Allie4_130 So I just read the very first chapter of Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls, Book 4: Stage Fright by Meg Cabot, and if you're an Allie Finkle fan, you certainly won't be let down. Even reading the first fifteen pages, I already see Allie's cute wit, and I get a sense that deep down inside she wants to be a star! I mean, who wouldn't want to be a celebrity? I'd take being a local celebrity!

I found it interesting that the book starts with a rule (No, I'm not going to give it away!) that basically acknowledges the importance of giving compliments. Allie certainly isn't a stranger to giving herself compliments either. Some people might call it bragging, but I think she's just confident. However, I wonder if this first rule is going to be a running theme throughout the book. Even if someone makes a complete fool out of herself or totally messes up, shouldn't you always make that person feel better anyway?

That's just my guess regarding the theme of the book. However, in order to know for sure what is really going to happen to Allie, I'll have to read Stage Fright in its entirety when it comes out on September 15th.

Oh and since when is Allie into 1980's comic books? The Voltron reference was awesome!
