Guess the Books! Trivia Quiz

Posted by at 7:23 am in Trivia | Permalink

Questionmark_130 Do you need a hint? Do you? Come on, do you?

Well tough! You're not getting one.

For today's Tuesday Trivia, I want to see how many of you can figure out the book titles from just an itty-bitty piece of their covers.

The books all have something in common. But if I told you, that would be a hint. And you're not getting one.  : P

Ink Splot 26

Have you ever noticed how many book covers feature animal noses?
No? Just me.

Well, you should have been paying attention. Because today's Trivia Tuesday is all about identifying book covers by their prominent schnozes. As they say, the nose knows.

Answers to Last Week’s Trivia

Posted by at 7:06 am in Trivia | Permalink

Trivia TuesdayHello, and welcome back to Trivia Tuesday. In today's edition of 'This still isn't Jeopardy,' I have the questions to go with last week's trivia answers.

But first, a hearty congratulations to stuffedmudkiptoy who was the first user to get them all correct.

That out of the way, here are the solutions:

Book Titles for 100

Answer: On his eleventh birthday, the title character finds out he's a wizard famous for surviving the attack that killed both his parents, in this book, the first of a wildly popular series.

Question: What is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling?

Book Titles for 200

Answer: In this book, the golden ticket wins the main character a coveted candy tour with four less-deserving children.

Question: What is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl?

Book Titles for 300

Answer: A main character and a sculpture by an artist who shares the main character's name go missing on the same night in this mystery, the third in its series.

Question: What is The Calder Game by Blue Balliett?

Book Titles for 400

Answer: This book series features The Book, which transports the three main characters through time and space.

Question: What is The Time Warp Trio by Jon Scieszka?

Books for 500

Answer: When a girl runs away from home she discovers a spring of immortality and meets a family who are immortal from it, and whose last name makes up half of this two word title.

Question: What is Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt?

So, until next time (which, hint, is in a few hours), goodbye.

Ink Splot 26“I’ll take ‘Book Titles’ for 500, Alex,” you say.

I say, “Wait a sec, I’m not Alex Trebek. And this isn’t Jeopardy.”

But for today’s Trivia Tuesday, I’m going to give you an answer. Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to leave the question in the comments.

Book Titles for 100

Answer: On his eleventh birthday, the title character finds out he’s a wizard famous for surviving the attack that killed both his parents, in this book, the first of a wildly popular series.

Book Titles for 200

Books for 500

Answer: When a girl runs away from home, she discovers a spring of immortality and meets a family who are immortal from it, and whose last name makes up half of this two-word title.

I’ll be back next week with the right questions. And remember to answer in the form of a question!
