Author SPLOTlight: Edward Eager

Eager for Something New to Read? Look No Further.

There’s something especially delicious about reading books during summer. Maybe it’s because you don’t have to read anything, but you can read just about everything.

Are you a fan of time travel, mystery, and adventure? If so, have I got the books for you to dip into. Picture it: sitting in the backyard under your favorite tree, cold glass of lemonade in your hand, new book just waiting for you to turn the first page and dive in. Well, in this case, it’s actually an old book. Several old books really. Have you read Edward Eager? Because I really think you should.

Edward Eager was an author in the 1950s and ’60s. He wrote seven books about kids stumbling into magical adventures, and they’re all really fab. I suggest you start with either Half Magic or Knight’s Castle (though I like Magic or Not a lot, too). If you’re into knights and ladies, try Knight’s Castle. If you’re intrigued by the idea of unexpected wishes granted in unexpected ways, try Half Magic.

Are you an Eager fan already? Or are you checking out his books now? I’d love to hear what you think. These are the kind of books I’d like to write. Ever feel that way about something you’ve read?

LOL! I felt exactly like this. EXACTLY! I felt so much like this that I *did* attempt to write “books like these.”
My tribute to Eager (and Nesbit, obvs) comes out May 26. You might like it!
