Change the World Writing Prompt

Posted by at 1:36 am in Writing Prompt | Permalink

writing_prompt_genericWriting Prompt: What would you change if you could?

Is there anything near and dear to your heart that you would change if you could? I’m a big believer in “no regrets” but for some things — like the things beyond your control — don’t you just wish you had a magic wand to zap away?

Maybe you would take back something mean you said that hurt someone’s feelings . . . or maybe you would change the world so no one ever goes hungry again . . .  or maybe you would just change your freckles. Serious, silly, or somewhere in between, let us know your answer to today’s Writing Prompt:

What Would You Change if You Could?

Inquiring minds want to know, so let us know in the Comments below! And then go see what you can do to make that change a reality!

G Hannelius in Dog with a BlogDog with a Blog Would You Rather

One of the biggest stars on TV now happens to be a talking dog, which means we could only be talking about Stan in Dog with a Blog. Last month, we posted an interview with G Hannelius, and since you guys couldn’t get enough, we now give you a Dog with a Blog Would You Rather.

You know the characters. You know the stories. You know the doggie drama. Now tell us, would you rather . . .

  1. Have Karl Fink as your annoying next door neighbor OR kiss this blobfish?

  7. See Stan fall in love with a crazy poodle OR a baby dolphin?
  8. Be a guest star in the Episode “Stan Talks to Gran?” Where Grama finds out Stan’s secret? OR the episode “Tyler Gets a Grillfriend” where Tyler works in the food truck and gets a girlfriend?
  9. Wear all of Avery’s clothes from the show, or go on a $500 shopping spree for your own clothes?

Happy Harry Potter Valentine’s Day

HeartsHarry Potter Valentine Inspiration

I think Harry Potter is the perfect Valentine’s Day read for so many reasons. Harry and Cho. Lavender and Won-Won! Hermione and Victor Krum. Harry and Ginny. Ron and Hermione. But my favorite love quote from the Harry Potter series comes from Professor Dumbledore.

"If there is one thing Voldemore cannot understand, it is love." J.K. Rowling

What is your favorite Valentine’s inspiration from Harry Potter? Tell us in the Comments and have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Winter Olympics Create a Caption, Part I

We’ve got a fever . . . Winter Olympics fever, that is! There have already been so many amazing photographs of athletes doing cool tricks and performing to the crowds in Sochi that we just knew we had to use one for Create a Caption.

Here’s a photo of Russian skater Evgeny Plyushchenko, competing in the Figure Skating Men’s Short Program. There’s a whole lot of drama going on here, but here’s what I think he’s saying. . .

createacaption1

“Dude, I know the skating competition is fierce, but I’ve got WINNER written all over me. I mean, look at this outfit! LOOK AT IT! Do you know how long it took to BeDazzle this? Do I get points for BeDazzling? I should get points for BeDazzling.”

What do YOU think Evgeny is saying? Share your caption in the Comments below!

Winter Olympics Who Would Win

Posted by at 1:35 am in Olympics, Who Would Win | Permalink

trivia_quiz1It’s Winter Olympics time! I’m so psyched!!!

While we are huge fans of competition between the top athletes in the world, we had to wonder: what would the Olympics look like if, instead of competing athletes, we had competing . . . animals? Great question! We want to know who YOU think would win . . .

  • in figure skating: a walrus or an elephant?
  • in snowboarding: an owl or a gopher?
  • in hockey: a team of geese or a team of turkeys?
  • in skiing: a wombat or a peacock?
  • in speed skating: a moose or a giraffe?
  • in a bobsled race: a team of sharks or a team of dolphins?

Valentine's HeartWe Heart Bookish Valentines!

Books = Love. That’s why bookmarks make perfect Valentine’s Day cards. Here are a few ideas you can make for your bookish friends this Valentine’s Day. I hope you like them!

Valentine Bookmarks

Pipe cleaner heart bookmarkPipe Cleaner Heart
Fold a pipe cleaner in half and twist the ends together a little bit. Pull the folded-over part into a heart shape. So easy! If you want to add a message, you can glue a piece of paper to the pipe cleaner and write your message inside.

Paper clip heart bookmarkPaper Clip Heart
Draw or trace heart onto some pretty paper – or plain paper colored to look pretty. Cut out your heart and glue it to a paper clip. If you have a wooden stick, you can use this instead of a paper clip.

Paper heart garland bookmarkHeart Garland
Cut out a few small hearts and glue them to a piece of yarn or string.
