Things Readers Wish the World Would Understand

book=notalk_130It’s a Reader Thing.

I am a Reader. Reading books and thinking about books and dreaming about books is normal, everyday stuff for me. But for some reason, things that seem normal to me seem kind of strange to people who are non-readers.

Here are a few examples of things I wish the world would understand:

  • If you call me while I am in the middle of a good book, I won’t answer my phone.
  • When I finally get the sequel of an awesome book I have been waiting for, I don’t want to hang out with my friends. I want to read my book and do nothing else until I finish it.
  • I always have a book in my bag just in case I get bored somewhere (like at a party, or a concert, or while I’m waiting in the cafeteria lunch line). Why is reading on the cafeteria lunch line not normal?
  • Running out of books is a serious emergency, like, life-threatening. If that happens, I must go to the library immediately!

How about you? What are the reader things you wish the world would understand about you? Leave them in the Comments.

    It really is true! But it’s kinda sad though! :) But I LOVE books! Books allow me to “escape” into another world, one without all of my problems. If you interrupt me while I am reading, boy, you are going down! :) I just wish that people would understand that you can’t judge a book by its cover and that books are NOT boring!

    Don’t ever interrupt me in the midst of a ‘The Mortal Instruments’ book! PS: I heard on a website someone say ‘Never Judge a book by its movie’! So true!

    Sequels can sometimes ruin things like in Harry Potter, when it seems like he is about to die you realize that there is another book after it so he HAS to survive. But they are good because you know the main character is not going to die and you have another book after that one to read if you like it. So sequels are BAD and GOOD.

    I am reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and people always say ” wow thats a thick book” and I say “well it’s not THAT bad”. But then when I look at it again I think ” wow, this is a pretty thick book.” I am also reading The Last Present by Wendy Mass and people say that it’s a chick-flic but it’s not!… it just looks like it :)

    I wish people would understand that books are NOT boring. They are the most awesome things in the worlds and it’s okay to call them your friends
    And also bookworms aren’t people who read books but people who love books(at least that’s what my opinion is)

    Sometimes my parents get annoyed when I’m in the middle of a page and they say I need to go to bed but I just HAVE to finish the page!

    One of my favorite sayings is thus:
    I am not addicted to reading, I can stop as soon as I finish the next chapter. ;0 (‘the next chapter’ is supposed to be underlined)

    I wish people understood, that when a character dies, it is a big deal, I don’t care if it’s not real, I FEEL LIKE THEY WERE MY BROTHER(Or sister)!!! *sob sob sob*
