Big Time Rush: Elevate
Big Time Rush has a BIG year planned for 2012. Their new album, titled Elevate, is out. They will be doing a concert tour in the U.S., and their new movie will premiere on Nickelodeon this spring. Big Time Movie looks like a hilarious, madcap adventure through London as the guys find themselves driving exotic cars and jumping out of helicopters to avoid evil henchmen, British secret agents, Swedish spies, and a billionaire businessman.
And to top it all off, James got an adorable new puppy. If you haven't seen it yet, you should totally take a look. It's sooo cute!
We talked to them about the album, the movie, and their other plans for 2012. Plus, they revealed which of the boys is a neat-freak. It's not who I would have guessed!
Q: Tell me how you came up with the idea for "Elevate."
James: I worked on it with Damon Sharpe, who's a good friend of ours. He actually came up with the concept. It's very positive, and there's a very fun message. It has this idea of elevating everything, elevating your life, elevating your style and so forth. When it came to naming the album, we all kept coming back to "Elevate" and eventually it just became the whole concept of this album from the artwork to the songs.
Q: "Music Sounds Better With U" is my favorite song. Do you guys have any favorites?
Carlos: “Invisible” means a lot to us because we wrote it for the fans. We want them to know they are not invisible to us at all. We see them and appreciate everything they do for us.
Logan: I love "Music Sounds Better With U" too! "Time of Our Life" is another one of my favorites because I had such a good time making this song with my friends/producers. Plus I think it's cool to have writing credits on this album.
Q: The Big Time Movie features 4 Beatles songs: "A Hard Day's Night," "Revolution," "We Can Work It Out," and "Help!" Was that intimidating?
Logan: We are just excited to help introduce the Beatles music to a younger generation. They're such amazing artists, we feel so honored to have had this opportunity.
Q: Carlos, you once said that you look for passion-driven songs like those of Stevie Wonder and Sam Cook. Who has the passion now?
Carlos: I can tell Adele, Justin Timberlake, and Bruno Mars are doing it because they love it. That inspires me, and it inspires all of us to continue to write. Every time Adele sings, that girl means it.
Q: Who would you like to collaborate with?
Kendall: There are so many talented artists that we would be thrilled to work with, but I think we all agree that working with Justin Timberlake would be pretty amazing.
Q: What music do you listen to?
Logan: When I want to just chill, I listen to John Mayer, Radiohead and Sarah Bareilles. When I need music to get me going, I turn on Foster the People, Chris Brown, and Drake.
Q: What is your New Year's resolution?
Kendall: My New Year's resolution is to enjoy every moment. . . I'm so lucky to be able to have all the incredible experiences I have, that I really want to soak everything in from now on.
Logan: It has been such an amazing year, and I have so much to be thankful for. My New Year's resolution is to hit the gym more next year and to read more.
Q: Tell me something funny or special about one of your band-mates.
Carlos: Kendall likes organic food and likes to eat everything organic.
Logan: Carlos is the cleanest, most organized member of the group. His dressing room is always perfect.
Carlos! Would you have guessed that? PS. I had the amazing good fortune to meet the guys when theye were here at Scholastic, and I just have one thing to say: "Phwoar!!"
Leave a Comment and let us know what you think about the new album, and how excited you are for the new movie!
