Sterling Beaumon from Clue
Did you catch the Clue mini-series (rated TV-PG) on The Hub last week? It's based on the board game and one of the stars is 16-year-old Sterling Beaumon. The new live-action, five-part miniseries follows six young sleuths who stumble upon an adventure they never imagined after witnessing a murder. Along the way, the six very different kids discover they have a lot more in common than they thought as they uncover hidden treasures and decipher cryptic knowledge to reveal a secret society.
Encore marathons will run throughout this week in case you missed it, and we have Sterling Beaumon here to talk about his role in the show, his most embarrassing experience, and his opinion of bullies.
Q: Tell me about Clue. Is the storyline closely based on the game?
Q: Tell me about your character.
Sterling: My character is Seamus, a.k.a. Mr. Green. He's the rebel, bad boy, cool guy of the group. When it starts out, he just takes control of the group and they all respect him even though he definitely gives them all a hard time to keep up his bad boy image.
Q: What do you like best about Clue?
Sterling: There's so much I like about Clue. I think one of the coolest things is how it keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
Q: When you were younger, did you play the game of Clue?
Sterling: I did. I played it all the time. I loved the game. Still love it. I had two favorite characters. I either played as Professor Plum or Mr. Green. Me and my family, whenever we played it, whenever we showed each other the cards, we did these silly, like exaggerated winks as if we’re letting them know something that nobody else can know.
Q: Were there any other board games that you liked to play?
Sterling: I loved Connect Four. It's not really a board game, but I loved it.
Q: Who was your very first celebrity crush?
Sterling: I think Hilary Duff.
Q: Do you have a pet?
Sterling: I have a kitty cat named Boo. A calico. Yea, she's a sweetheart. I just think it's hilarious when she plays with her toys. She gets so into it and so focused on hitting her little toys around. It's hilarious.
Q: What is one thing that you wish everyone would do to make the world a better place?
Sterling: Stop bullying people. Jeez people. There's no need to bully someone.
Q: Did you ever experience bullying when you were growing up?
Sterling: I did a little bit when I was in eighth grade. You know, people are so petty and so jealous and it’s really unfortunate. You just gotta ignore it and realize that people are doing it because they're insecure about themselves.
Q: What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?
Sterling: It was the first game of my high school hockey season. I play center and left wing for my high school team. I was on third string and within three seconds of jumping on the ice, I was laid out, just smack down. So that was kind of embarrassing to have been on the ice for literally three seconds and already be knocked out.
Q: What would a perfect day for you be?
Sterling: A perfect day would be waking up at like 11, so sleeping in, having a nice, great breakfast, hanging out with some friends, shooting a TV show, and ending the day by performing a concert. I play guitar. I love guitar and then I sing as well.
Q: If you could create a flavor of ice cream, what would it be and what would you call it?
Sterling: Um, I would love to do a Mexican food flavor ice cream. I’d call it Le Mexico or something like that.
Q: Is there one food that you absolutely cannot live without?
Sterling: Jalapeños.
Q: Oh! You're not going to put them in the ice cream are you?
Sterling: No. No, but I literally put them on almost everything, even pizza, in soup, in eggs.
Q: When you were a little kid, what was the hardest word for you to pronounce?
Sterling: I could not pronounce my name for the longest time. I pronounced "Teaning," not Sterling. I could not say it 'til I was like five.
Q: Do you have a first day of school memory?
Sterling: I remember my first day of school. I was so excited to go to school because I wanted to use my Toy Story backpack. I know. It’s kind of lame, but it’s the truth. I was so desperate to use my Toy Story backpack, I could not wait to carry it to school the next day.

I thought the mini series kept the viewer on their toes. I was not expecting the girl who said that she was coming to rescue her father to turn on the group. Also I thought it was pretty interesting how the clue group broke up into groups to find the 3 puzzle pieces that made the Tessla machine.
