Questionmark_130Fall into our Fall Trivia Answers!

Last week I posted a Fall Trivia Quiz. Did you snuggle up with your leftover Halloween candy to take a crack at it? Check out the answers below!

  1. What year was the first Thanksgiving held?
ANSWER: 1621. It wasn’t called Thanksgiving yet, but was a day of celebrating the Pilgrims first successful harvest. There were 53 pilgrims and members of the Wampanoag Indians.
  2. Which is associated with fall?
ANSWER: C. Scarecrows. Traditionally, Native American tribes (and people throughout the world) used scarecrows, or "bird scarers" to protect their crops. Now they are a familiar fall decoration in pumpkin patches, Halloween displays, and houses everywhere!
  3. Why do leaves change colors in the fall?
ANSWER: Trees need chlorophyll to grow in spring and summer. It runs out in the fall as temperatures drop, revealing the color hidden underneath.
  4. The day after Halloween, November 1st, is celebrated by various religions. For the Catholic and Episcopal religions it is known as All Saints Day. What is it known as in Mexico?
ANSWER: Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It is a day to remember and pray for the dead.
  5. Approximately what percentage of American homes eats turkey on Thanksgiving?
    ANSWER: C. 90%.
  6. What sound does a female turkey make? "Gobble" or "Cluck?"
    ANSWER: Cluck!
  7. True or False? According to Farmer’s Almanac, one sign a harsh, cold winter is coming is a large amount of acorns on the ground in the fall.
ANSWER: True! It’s said squirrels will start gathering nuts earlier than usual to fortify themselves against a hard winter.
  8. What was YOUR costume this Halloween?
ANSWER: Only you can provide this valuable information!

PS. I love all the costumes you guys had! Until next time. Stay warm and toasty!
