Abigail Breslin in Rango
I interviewed 14-year-old Abigail Breslin this week, and asked about her role as Priscilla, the gun-toting young mouse in the new animated movie Rango (rated PG), but what I really wanted to know is, has she been cast in The Hunger Games movie?? Read on to find out. . .
Q: Tell me about your character in Rango. Are you similar to her in any ways? Do you have anything in common? What do you like about her?
Abigail: My character in Rango is Priscilla. She is a cactus mouse and the technically term is an Aye-aye and I think she is absolutely gorgeous and adorable. She is a little morbid and un-trusting; she is very suspicious of Rango. I do not think she is a lot like me, but I would like to be as tough as she is.
Q: Which scene was the most fun to record and why?
Abigail: My favorite scene is when Rango first comes to town and Priscilla and Rango confront each other on how funny looking they are. "You're funny lookin'." It's very ironic because when you see everyone else in the town, everyone is funny looking.
Q: What are your plans for the future? Will you continue acting or do you want to do something different when you're older?
Abigail: I would like to be lucky enough to continue acting as a career, but I'm open to new ideas all the time. For example, I would love to go to college at some point.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
Abigail: I like to play with my dogs - I love to taking them to the dog park! I also love to hang out with friends and I especially like writing songs with my best friend. I'm also an avid reader.
Q: What book would you recommend to a friend?
Abigail: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray (both for ages 12 and up).
Q: I read that you would like to play Prim in The Hunger Games movie. What about that character appeals to you?
Abigail: I'm not sure where the rumor of Prim came from but I would consider myself the luckiest girl in the world to play Katniss. The part of Katniss appeals to me because I think she is a very noble self-sacrificing young girl without being a goody goody while still being very human.
Q: But you haven't actually been cast in the movie?
Abigail: No.
Q: Who is your celebrity crush?
Abigail: It will remain a secret.
Q: You looked so pretty at the L.A. Rango premiere! How did you choose your outfit and how long did it take to get ready?
Abigail: I had help choosing my outfit from my stylist and we decided on a sequined dress by Nicole Miller pairing it with the blazer to dress it down a bit, and the shoes were Valentino. I fell in love with them! It doesn't take me too long to get ready, maybe about an hour – which is mostly doing my hair since it's so long at the moment.

Wow! It's hard to believe she's my age; 14! She looks so mature in the photo. She was in a movie with Jodie Forster called Nim's Island.

When she talks about choosing her outfit, it reminds me of Katniss and Cinna deciding on Katniss's outfits. ;) I hope she is Katniss! And I can't WAIT to see the movie.
