The Memory Bank

Memorybank_130x130 Welcome to Scholastic Booktalks where we recommend brand new Scholastic books that we think you will love. Today's booktalk is: The Memory Bank by Carolyn Coman and Rob Shepperson.

Can you count how many memories you have? It's impossible because we make so many memories every day. Luckily for us, there is the WWMB. The WWMB, also known as the World Wide Memory Bank, holds everybody's memories. They carefully guard and monitor many different kinds of memories because they know they are important.

Dreaming is the only thing that helps Hope Scroggins get through the day. Hope has terrible parents. Her awful parents abandoned her little sister, Honey. Honey is the sweetest, kindest and most lovable child in the world. Honey was the only thing that brought Hope happiness and now she is gone. Hope is determined to find her little sister, and she firmly believes that the answer to finding Honey is in her dreams! That means that Hope dreams constantly and is rarely awake creating new memories.

When the World Wide Memory Bank notices that Hope isn't making enough memory deposits, she is brought in to the WWMB to clear up the problem. When she arrives, she discovers that there is a war between the WWMB and the Clean Slate Gang. The CSG, led by the mysterious Tabula Rasa, wants to erase everything in history. But the WWMB is determined to not let that happen!

Will Hope join the fight to save everyone's memories and dreams? And, by doing so, will she find Honey? Read The Memory Bank to find out!
