Rick Riordan NEW SERIES!
This thrilling news just made my whole week! Rick Riordan, the author of Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and The 39 Clues: The Maze of Bones, has a NEW SERIES coming out next Spring!
Circle this date on your calendar: May 4, 2010 is the release date for The Kane Chronicles, Book One: The Red Pyramid. It will be another fantasy series in a modern-day setting like Percy Jackson, but this series will feature ancient Egyptian mythology instead of ancient Greek. I CAN'T WAIT!!!
Here is a tiny plot tease:
When a magical accident unleashes the Egyptian gods on the modern
world, siblings Carter and Sadie Kane discover that they are the only ones who can put things right. As descendants of the greatest Egyptian magicians, they must find a way to defeat the evil god Set before he can destroy them.
It almost hurts to have to wait until May! OK, in the meantime, here are some other books about Ancient Egypt to keep you busy while you wait.
The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
Modern-day kids start playing a pretend "Egypt game" that leads to unexplainable events.
Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos by R.L. LaFevers
Theodosia has to work to remove the hidden curses from the ancient Egyptian artifacts in the British Museum where her parents work.
Egyptology by Dugald Steer and Ian Andrew
A fascinating scrapbook of ancient Egypt, full of hidden discoveries and magical secrets.
Yay!

UPDATE 4/20: We now have news about Riordan's NEW Camp Half-Blood series too!

Everybody go watch the movie 'cause if the movie makes enough money than they might, just might make a movie for The Sea of Monsters. Tell your friends to see it. SPREAD THE WORD!!!

I completely agree with you, Matt. You took the words right out of my mouth. Are you a mindreader or something?! Hehe! I also thoroughly enjoyed the series, but was dissatisfied with the movie. Thanks for everything you contribute to society, Joey.
Sincerely Yours, Kat

Percy Jackson was a good read,
My favorite part was the Lotus Flowers.
Percy does a great deed,
He exhibits lots of power and never once takes a shower.
He eats things that are blue,
and he's pretty handy with a sword.
Annabeth can really solve a clue,
He could kill a monster with a board!
So in conclusion, I LOVE PERCY JACKSON! and thats a FACTSON!

Zuna, you really have a way with words. I wish I could rhyme and rap as well as you do! I appreciate all that you do for society, Zuna, too. :-) All the things you said are very accurate and I absolutely agree with them.
Truly Yours,
Kat
P.S. I LOVE your name. Are named after someone?
