Remember being little and having your parents tell you to SHARE, PLAY FAIR, or TELL THE TRUTH? Well, now that you are older, you don’t need to be reminded, right? You are just a sharing, truthful person that plays fair! Do you know that by doing those small things, you can make a difference in your life and the lives of other people around you?
For example, you can do something as little as giving up your seat on the bus or reading a book to your little brother or sister. You can do something that doesn’t cost a lot of money, such as cleaning up your local park or making new signs for the neighborhood so that it’s safe for the little kids. The point is, it only takes a little out of your day to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Scholastic recently launched a new campaign called BE BIG, which takes BIG IDEAS and shows how they can be applied every day by YOU to make the world we live in a better place. The Big Ideas are: Share, Play Fair, Have Respect, Believe in Yourself, Work Together, Be Responsible, Be Truthful, Be Kind, Be a Good Friend and Help Others.
Enter YOUR BIG IDEA in the BE BIG in Your Community Contest for a chance to see your BIG Idea honored with a $25,000 grant!
Did you ever have a BIG idea that you thought could make a difference in your school or community? Did you ever wonder how you could make that Big idea happen? The BE BIG in Your Community Contest allows you to enter that Big Idea for a chance to win a community grant
and apply that grant to make a difference!
The grand prize entry will be honored with a $25,000 community grant, and the runner up entries will each be honored with a $2,500 community grant (via HandsOn Network affiliate organizations or
designees) from the Be Big Fund to be used towards implementing the winning proposals.*
Remember . . . It only takes a little to make a difference . . . It only takes a little to BE BIG!
