The FIVE: Best Things About 2009, Past and Future

THE FIVE: Best of 2009The fact that 2009 is only about 10% over might discourage some people from passing judgment on its five best moments. Not me! I've seen all I need to see. And I'll stand behind these choices until the day I die.

. . . or at least until March.

1. Bruce Springsteen's Super Bowl halftime show

It's hard for me to articulate why Bruce Springsteen rocks so hard. He just does. Anyone who saw the halftime show during the Super Bowl knows what I mean — whether he's sliding knees-first into a cameraman, giving high-fives to everyone within 20 feet of him, or wailing on a guitar solo, he embodies everything that is sweet and righteous about rock.

2. The inauguration of Barack Obama

Not really sure I have to say much here. Watching the speech gives me chills every time.

3. The Hunger Games Book #2: Catching Fire (for ages 12 and up)

I loved The Hunger Games. Looooved it. Loved it so much that now I moderate the forums. So, needless to say, I'm ridiculously excited to see what happens to Katniss, Peeta, Prim, Gale, Cinna, Haymitch, and everyone else in the awesomely grim world of Panem. I have my predictions (love triangle, journey to the 13th district, tribute Prim, 12th district riot/rebellion, to name a few . . . ), and I can't wait to find out how everything unfolds! (Check out our announcement of Catching Fire's title and cover here.)

4. Transformers 2 (in theaters June 24th)

Autobots . . . transform! And roll out!

5. Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder performing "Superstitious" at the Grammy Awards Show

It's good to see the JBs honoring their roots.

So that's my list. What are your predictions for 2009? What do you think will happen in Catching Fire? And will the Jonas Brothers keep getting hotter, or will they burn out? Will Transformers 2 be great, or will it be awesome? Is anyone cooler than Bruce Springsteen? (No.) Let me know in the Comments!
