Trivia Tuesday: A Wrinkle in Time
I'm moving this weekend, and as I was sorting and packing books the other day, I came across a book in my collection that I had forgotten all about. The book was A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.
A Wrinkle in Time is a Newbery award-winning sci-fi book that starts on an ominous "dark and stormy night," when the strange Mrs. Whatsit visits the Murrays' house with information about Meg's missing scientist father. Ultimately, this visit leads to Meg, her younger brother (Charles Wallace), and her classmate (Calvin) going off with Mrs. Whatsit to rescue Meg's father.
But when Mrs. Whatsit first shows up at the Murrays' house, the immediate thing she has to tell Meg's mother is, "There is such a thing as a tesseract."
So, my question for you is: In A Wrinkle in Time, what is a tesseract?
— Carly H., STACKS Staffer
this looks like a wonderful book to read. when i'm at a bookstore I will look for the book.

It has been awhile since I read it, but I believe it is a lapse in time that allows one to travel into another time or space. It is a GREAT BOOK!

a tesseract is the fifth dimension. when you add it to the other 4 dimensions, it allows you to travel through space. It is the quickest way to get from one point to another.
