Chasing Vermeer -- If I Could Cast the Movie . . .

Chasingvermeer When I read Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett, I thought it would be a great movie. Then a friend told me that Warner Brothers bought the rights in 2004 but they haven't even started casting the roles. So I started thinking about who could play Calder, Petra and Ms. Hussey. After some thought I this is who I would pick for the roles:

Nickjonas  Calder Pillay: Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. I think he has a little of a geeky side to pull off Calder really well. OR the other possibility for Calder would be Michael Cera — he's the guy from Juno, and he would be pretty good too!

MileycyrusPetra Andalee: Miley Cyrus but with glasses.

Katehudson Ms. Hussey: Although I think of Ms. Hussey as a brunette, I think Kate Hudson would be fun to play her. She has a quirky side that I think fits perfectly.

Do you agree? Can you think of anyone better to play these roles in a movie?

If i could cast the movie, this is what i'd do-

Calder Pillay-Freddie Highmore

Petra Andalee-Dakota Fanning

Ms. Hussey-Kristen Chenworth

Mrs. Sharpe-Helen Mirren

i totally DISAGREE with the first comment. that would be like trying to cram stars into it for more publicity.

I think kristen stewart should play ms hussy for some odd reason.

i also think helen mirren should be mrs sharpe.

make sure the kids that are calder and petra accualy sort of look like them in real life**GOOD TIP**

Mrs.Sharpe- Helen Mirren
Ms.Husse- Kristen Stewart
Calder..Petra- some people who accualy sorta look like them in real life.

Wouldn't Nick and Miley look too old for Calder and Petra?I think Luke Benward or Graham Phillips as Calder and Allisyn Ashley Arm(from Sonny With a Chance)or Alyson Stoner with glasses as Petra.

first of all why is'nt any saying Tommy
Tommy- i think moises aries should tommy
Calder- i cant think if any one so maybe Jake T. Austin
Petra- definitely Dakota Fanning if she changed her hair.
Ms.Hussey- kate hudson

I think that Calder and and Petra should be two unknowns, kids who can give us a fresh outlook at the character-someone who we have not already judged. Helen Mirren would be the perfect Mrs. Sharpe though.

Mrs. Sharpe- Helen Mirren
Petra- hmmm... unknown
Calder- same
Ms. Hussey- Anne Hathaway

Calder- Bredon T. Jackson
Petra- Alexa Vega
Tommy- Freddie Highmore
Ms. Hussey- Kate Hudson

I would just make auditions...

I think Calder and Petra should definitely be played by unknowns. I do, however, think that Helen Mirren would make a wonderful Mrs. Sharpe. I also think Idina Menzel would be great as Ms. Hussey.

If I did the movie I would LOVE to play Petra. I love to act as I also enjoy writing and reading just like her. She is the same age as me and I could really get in and fit into her shoes nicely. Go Blue Balliett. P.S. You should read all of Blue Balliett's books, they're amazing!

I believe that you can't decide on who should act as them at this point-they haven't really begun on the movie,so by the time they start, the chosen actors might be too old. However, I think that Calder should be played by a boy with staight brown hair and sort-of dark skin. Petra should look pretty, but with wild curly black hair. Tommy should have a round fae and short black hair. After that, anyone who can play the part well deserves to act as them.

NO WAY SHOULD disney people be in such an awesome movie. ruined. helen mirren absolutley as mrs sharpe.'Lucy', could NOT agree with u more!

I don't want to sound like oh I'm the best but I really think that I would make an AMAZING Petra Andalee! Nick and Miley are WAY too old, Petra and Calder are twelve! I'm just like Petra and I love acting and people always say I'm very talented!

Very, very bad decisions. Don't hire actors that are too old for roles of sixth graders. Too old.

Petra-i think i would make a great petra:)
Calder-jake t austin...if he was younger
Ms. Sharp-helen mirren

and i agree...lets not make this a disney movie people!
